Overview

Learn how to surf at the birth place of Surfing! We are conveniently located in the heart of Waikiki, right on the beach. We are only steps away from the ocean.

Private group surf lessons require a minimum of 2 people to participate, and up to 5 students can be together in one group. You must be able to swim and over 12 years old to take this lesson. If you are 12 yrs and younger, you must take one-on-one private lessons instead of group lessons .If you want to maximize your time in the water, sign up for one-on-one private lessons.

Make sure to ask about the photo services (with additional charge) to capture the moment!

Our family surfed for the first time and had 2 instructors take us out and up on our boards in no time. The instructors were fun, and very helpful with their instructions on where and how to stand on the board. Overall a great experience and we can't wait to try it again - maybe by ourselves next time! Ages ranging from 11, 15, 48 and 50.

As you have mentioned, we provided 1 instructor for your 11 yr old child, as kids age 12 yr and younger must take one-on-one Private Individual Lessons, and another instructor to take care of other three students (15, 48 and 50). Glad to know that all of you had a wonderful time! Please know that we also offer board rentals so if you would like to try out it on your own, please come back to inquire about it. The boards are located on the beach so it'll be easier for you to carry right into the water. Mahalo Nui Loa! We look forward to having your ohana again soon!

We had a great time with our great surf instructor Mat. He have never stood on a surf board before. In Waikiki, you have the wonderful chance to do it without worrying about undercurrents or any dangers. There a wonderful small beginners' waves available. The instructor first practiced some basics with us on land and then we paddled out into the water. He looked out for waves and empty spaces to surf. Which gave us the opportunity to focus only on standing up properly and enjoying the ride. At first, it worked out well for me. But after the second time, I kept falling off. Mat recognized immediately, what I needed to change to stand up fine again. It was really a perfect lesson just to try out surfing and see if the sport is for us. We booked a group lesson for 2 people and had a private lesson just for the two of us. It was really great. Would recommend anyone to join. (Only small downside: They want to sell you pictures afterwards and they are way too expensive at $50 per person.)

We appreciate your describing your experience step by step so that the readers would know what to expect when signing up for the surf lessons with us, Waikiki Beach Services. All our lessons are exclusive so we do not mix with other strangers; we just need a minimum of 2 guests to sign up for the "Group" lessons. Otherwise you can also sign up for an one-on-one private "Individual" lessons. Regarding the price for the photo services, it is outsourced to a professional photography company and they do a great job capturing the photos in the water and often times the photographer catch the same surf with you! We are sorry that you find the price is too expensive, but we are certain that you will be thrilled to see yourself catching waves with the iconic diamond head in the back ground! Our 3 grandsons wanted to try surfing. A couple days before we did and Outrigger Canoe ride with Waikiki Beach Services at the Royal Hawaiian. We were happy with the staff for the canoe ride so decided to sign them up for surf lessons. The 11 year old was required to be in a private lesson. The 13 and 17 year old were together with another instructor. All 3 caught waves and were able to get up on board. Pleased with the instruction and how they stayed with grandsons in water. Another plus is they provide a photographer in the water to get pictures of you surfing Waikiki with Diamond Head in the background. You view the pictures and then purchase if you want. Felt safe.
