Private Hike to Jungle Tide Pools

Overview
This tide pool is a local secret. It's off the beaten path. A miracle of nature. We'll use a jungle/lava rock coastal trail. Each way takes 30-40 min (1/2 mile) (10 minutes in jungle, 20-30 minutes on coast). Only your group will participate. I'll teach you about the pool's ecosystem and the local environment. You'll also have time to explore/relax privately.

- Elevation gain on the hike offers amazing coastal views. Sea turtles are a common sight in the distance.
- The pool is like an infinity pool overlooking cliffs. The water is crystal clear. It's highly likely you'll be alone because this spot is so unknown.
- The pool is like an an aquarium with fish, hermit crabs, rock crabs, sea cucumbers, shrimp, snails, spaghetti worms, pink coralline algae, seaweed, shells, & cool rocks.
- Waves strike cliffs and shoot water in the air like a blowhole (conditions permitting). A once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.
- The pool is calm/safe with a deep (4-7 ft.) & shallow (1-4 ft.) area.

  • Wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. There are no bathrooms at the tide pool.

What an amazing experience! We would have never found this gem without Josh. It’s a short walk through the jungle then a trek over lava rock to the tide pools. The views are unforgettable! You can see right over the edge as you’re approaching the pools and the surf as it comes over the rock. Great picture opportunities! Our group consisted of all ages to include a toddler and a senior. We did question our ability to complete the lava rock trek a couple of times but slow and steady did the trick. We did have to carry the toddler over the rocks for a bit which took some time and balance. Wear good water shoes! Josh was very patient and encouraging! He’s very knowledgeable and provided recommendations of things to do while we were there. So glad we did this and would recommend if you’re in good physical condition and looking for an adventure!

If you are seeking a mini adventure then this excurtion is perfect. Its a short hike through a jungle and then onto a rocky volcanic shore. Bring some good shoes but be ready to take a dip in small pools of water that over look the ocean. We loved this trip and highly recommend it. Josh is a great guide, friendly and helpful. If we are ever back in Hawaii we would do this again.
