Looking for a Segway tour opens up lots of choice - like looking for a boat tour. So how to you pick one from the other? That was what we faced. Our first step was we wanted private if it was well priced. Like diving, the group can only go at the pace of the slowest participant. We wanted to be free of any feelings of pressure to experience this at a comfortable pace and at the same time as we quickly (VERY quickly!) realized how easy it is to do with the right instruction, we didn't want to be held back in a group waiting for somebody else.
Michael, the owner, was quick to point out just the right things to make the learning curve short. My wife was initially more cautious than I was and Michael had a remarkably comfortable approach that elevated both her confidence and skill level until - well, she was amazing!
Segway South Beach with Michael was ready and waiting when we arrived, and Michael is the kind of story teller that comes from living in Miami for his lifetime. He's a little like The Big Lebowski! Handsome, rugged and just instantly likeable, we knows a lot about the challenges of Miami Beach as well as the more notable places. He looked out for us, took pictures for and of us, went at exactly the pace we essentially set and clearly is well liked because lots of people said hello to him on the journey.
The best part is that it was competitively priced to the group tours, but private. So for the modest additional fee we really got to enjoy our tour and ride as if we were just three friends out for a fun afternoon. Yes, there are lots of choices. We have travelled all over the world and enjoyed diving, hiking, hot air ballooning - you name it. Every once in awhile you meet a "guide" who just brings it all home for you in the best possible way. So, yes it is just a Segway ride. But with Michael - it was a personal tour that we absolutely loved and became part of the full success and pleasure of our trip to Miami. I highly recommend.
