Private Tour: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Eco Tour

Overview
Explore the worlds most active volcano with one of our professional, award winning guides - get away from the big bus and van tours and get out into the field to visit areas that few visitors get to see while visiting Hawai'i island!

No gift shops, no restaurants, no long drives around the island in a van to visit areas you can explore on your own. No gimmicks and no frills - all of our time is spent exploring the amazing active volcanoes of Hawai'i island! We offer only active, education based explorations that focus on topics such as Geology, native flora and fauna, and the amazing Hawaiian culture that still thrives on the volcano today.

Our tours are family friendly, easy to book and leave our guests with a deepened understanding of the science and the culture of Kīlauea. See the best of the volcano with several moderate walks throughout the day. Our National Park tours allow guests the convenience of using their own vehicle as opposed to a large bus or van.

This tour was awesome. The guide was very attentive to what we wanted to see and personable. They have an extensive knowledge of Hawaii and everything volcanos. We had a 5 and a 9 year old in our family of 4 and got to see a lot!

We took this tour with a rented vehicle and had our guide Justin ride with us. he met us at the volcano house and brought us on short walk to a spot where there was a chance to see lava from a distance. because we were there during the day he explained that it was not likely were see any lava from where we were, but we were lucky enough to see it through the binoculars. From there he led us to many places in the park and managed to avoid crowds and shared his vast knowledge of the park, and plants and animals in the area. We got see a lava tube, vast fields where lava flowed all the way to the ocean, and finished up at a couple of active steam vents. You could spend days in this park, and this tour is a great way to get a taste for the area so you can plan a more focused trip in the future.

Aloha swromer and thank you for your review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your private tour with Justin, and that you were able to see the surface of the lava lake with the binoculars he brought along. All of our guides try to avoid the big crowds as much as possible and explore most areas that the big bus and van tours do not access. And with this National Park being over 330,000 acres we agree that there is so much to explore that having a guide can really maximize your time and experience on the volcano. Mahalo for your recommendation!

My partner and I had an amazing time on the in-depth tour with Jay Robinson and Tyson. Jay is a retired park ranger and is basically a Volcanoe National Park legend! He literally wrote the trail guides and plaques throughout the park. Jay is super knowledgeable and entertaining. He regained us with many traditional Hawaiian stories which truly enriched our appreciation of the park and the Hawaiian culture. One of my favorite parts of the tour was the traditional chant Jay offered before entering some areas of the park. He was also super nice and broke up our trout so that we could see the eruption at night via binoculars and a spotting scope. I suggest doing this tour on the first or second day if you plan on spending a few days exploring the park because Jay gave good tips on where else to hike in the park. Additionally, I want to give a shout out to the booking manager, Malia Storm, for excellent email communication prior to the tour.

Aloha Regina L and thank you for your review of your private tour with Jay and Tyson! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with them, and we agree that booking a private tour with our professional guides on the first couples days of your stay here on the Big Island can be beneficial in several ways. We are always happy to make recommendations outside of the National Park, and the detailed information our guides provide while on tour can give better perspective when exploring the rest of the island. Mahalo for taking the time to share your experience!
