Mount Rushmore is more than just the carvings. They have secrets that are not easily revealed. GeoFunTrek's guides are local experts with decades of experience. We have no seasonal guides, part-time guides or trainees. All tours are conducted by the owners, Cindy and John Esposti. We have the knowledge and skills to make your day one to remember. You will always get the A-Team when you tour with GeoFunTrek Tours!
All tours are Private Tours exclusive to the group booking the tour and no additional guests will be included. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Children 3 years and younger are free-of-charge and will have their own seat. Children's car seats must be supplied by family members when required. Our largest vehicle, a Sprinter van seats 9, and a larger vehicle may be rented or we can add a Honda Pilot for larger groups. This is a great tour for 3-generation families with Children, multiple couples and groups of friends.

GEOFUNTREK TOURS SAFETY UPDATE COVID-19 Your comfort and safety are our primary concern. Take a private tour, limited to your group only and enjoy the day knowing that: 1) We have only two guides, John & Cindy are a married couple from the same household. They constantly monitor each other’s health. So even when not at work “THE BOSS” is always watching. 2) We have installed see-through barriers in our vehicles between the guests and the guide. 3) Our vehicles will be disinfected before and after each tour with high-quality disinfectants. 4) Guides will monitor their temperatures before each tour. 5) We wear masks and maintain proper social distancing practices and we kindly request our guests to do the same.

What To Expect

Mount Rushmore National Memorial

You will enjoy a personalized guided tour of the Shrine of Democracy with a local expert. Visit the Sculptor's Studio, Presidential Trail and Visitor Center.

Crazy Horse Memorial

Experience a personalize tour with your own local expert and learn the history of the warrior and memorial.

Custer State Park

Drive through the 71,000 acre park making frequent stop at the sites of your choosing. Take short hikes and visit the lodges or visitor facilities of your choice. Areas included are the Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road and the Wildlife Loop Road.

My parents and I took this private tour on July 18, 2022 with Cindy and it was a fantastic day! Cindy picked us up at the hotel in a very comfortable vehicle and took us on a scenic drive through Needles Highway for a beautiful sneak peak of Mount Rushmore. We then visited Mount Rushmore where Cindy explained the history and how the carving was done, which was very interesting. We then drove through beautiful Custer State Park where we hoped to see at least one bison. Cindy knew to check in with the rangers on where the bison had recently been spotted. She then took us there and we saw hundreds of bison and several bison calves and yearlings! We had a very good lunch at a restaurant in the park that Cindy knew well. We next went to Crazy Horse where Cindy explained the history of the carving and the Lakota. It was a very educational and enjoyable day! Cindy is originally from Rapid City, so she is very knowledgeable about South Dakota in general and especially all of the sites we visited. In between stops we had a great time just talking with Cindy and learning about life in South Dakota. I highly recommend this tour!

Fabulous tour! John is an amazing tour guide and just an all-around great guy who loves what he does!!! ! We had a family of 9 pile into his van, and off we went! First stop: Mt. Rushmore--our favorite part-- the ride on the twisty road which gave us a glimpse of the monument through a tunnel! What a hidden gem! Then onto Needles Highway-our teenagers loved this part-being able to get out and climb the rocks! Then, we spotted herds of bison in Custer State part-John asked the Park Rangers, and he knew where to find the wildlife! Our final stop was Crazy Horse--another fantastic top! John is full of knowledge and and answered each and every question we asked (which was a lot!) !! He even offered us some poetry along the way, which was an amazing touch! His wife pack us snacks and water-which was a great touch! Would absolutely recommend! Thank you John and Cindy!

Cindy on one day, and John on the following day, took us on all-day tours visiting all the sights to be seen in this part of South Dakota—Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the. Badlands, and more. Their expert knowledge of geology and related subjects enlightened us on all we observed during our two days with them. At the end of the tour their personal touch made us feel like their newly acquired friends. My wife and I highly recommend GeoFun Trek Tours.
