FAME is a full-scale replica of a privateer schooner from the War of 1812 that captured over 20 prizes! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem.

On board our traditional gaff-rigged schooner, you'll get a chance to raise the sails and even steer the boat as we sail Salem Sound and talk about the fisherman, traders, and privateers that played such a central role in the saga of Salem, of Massachusetts, and of the young United States.

This is a great hands-on adventure for all ages — but you can also just sit back and enjoy a beverage and take it all in as we cruise past the historic forts and lighthouses of Salem, Beverly, and Marblehead.

Our trip on Schooner Fame was the highlight of our trip to Salem. The crew was fantastic. Food and drinks available on the boat. We went later in the day, so the sun setting was a perfect touch! Our girls learned about sailing and the history behind the vessel. Great trip!

Our party of 8, ranging in age from 10-64, all thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on July 4. Captain Mike and the crew keep everybody safe and entertained throughout. Sailing on this gorgeous replica of a 19th century privateer ship helps you experience the history of Salem as well as a fun 2 hours on the water.

Sailed aboard schooner FAME out of Pickering Wharf in Salem on the Fourth of July with my wife and five year old son. We had an amazing time! Captain Ed and his crew were very knowledgeable and professional, skilled at sailing, hospitable and made for a very special day. They even let me and my son help raise the sails, as well as allowed my son to steer the tiller!
