I was just on the Governor's Island this weekend for the 4th of July. I stayed the holiday weekend at the glamping facilities, so I had plenty of time to revisit this place. Let me preface, I'm on the island multiple times a year and have been going for many years. I will vow again, I will NOT step foot in this spa again. I don't see the fascination of this place. Zero Stars!! There are so many other spas in the area offering the same if not better services, trying to attract the same type of high end clientele based on their price point. The rooms are still just Instagram rooms by only offering themes vs. different health quality. For example, one room is trying to look like a den with book spins glued to the wall and another has benches and sounds of bird chirping. Spas I go to for health offer aroma therapy, salt inhalation rooms, ice walls, hydro jets, infra red, clay, silk baths, body scrubs, cedar tubs and carbonated baths. The QC company spent $50 million fixing up 1/3 of a building and I can still see broken windows, badly sealing doors (important in a steam room), and just poor craftsmanship. The food at the Spa is still overprices, small, premade and fast food quality. Governor's Island is constantly opening up new restaurants. From gourmet food trucks to ones with bouncers and you need reservations. You have to sneak out and back in to get a good meal. Definitely go to the island, because it's gorgeous. The trip over on the ferry is fantastic. Biking and hiking around is always great with tons to see. Highly recommend the glamping, Collective Retreats. You can arrange a cheaper massage through them. As for food, lounging arounds and having drinks with friends...try Gitano or Island Oyster. Even at Collective Retreats Food is made fresh and is at a much better price point. I got half a pound of lemon poppy shrimp there for $21 vs. a cold chicken wrap for $28 at QCNY Spa.

Super relaxing, beautiful view and great property. Several different amenities in addition to the pool area. Just wish it wasnā€™t first come, first serve for seating.

I passed by this place as I was wandering around Governor's Island for the day and saw that it had what appeared to be a pool. So I went inside only to discover this was a spa & not a cheap one. $120 for use of the pool. Well, I figured I would splurge and probably never come back. I didn't even have a bathing suit but they were okay with me in my bra and cut-offs. If they weren't okay they didn't say anything about it! Outside there are 5 shallow (3 feet 3 inches) pools that are long enough for laps. There are lots of chairs/loungers inside of the pools with water massages. The views are stunning - you directly overlook downtown NYC and the World Trade Center, the statue of liberty, and all the boats going by. Definitely Instagram worthy and as the place just opened a few months ago it honestly wasn't that crowded. Once the 'gram crowd figures this out, who knows what will happen... I got there about 1:30 PM and it was very easy getting chairs and loungers inside of the pool with the jet streams. (Not so easy outside, all the daybeds were taken, so I used my towel). Inside I had access to some saunas, steam room, a "foot bath" room, some kind of infrared face exercise room (no idea what that was about), a barebones snack bar (bread, cookies, veggies, fruit). There is a pay bar/lunch counter but I did not partake as I'd spent enough! I thought it was a nice splurge. However, don't go if it's super hot out and you are looking to cool off as the pools are WARM. The day was very warm but not that kind of excruciating hot that happens deep into July/Aug so I could stand it, but if it had been any warmer, likely not. Staff was polite though everyone seemed a bit rushed and overworked (twice I watched servers dropping trays) - other than the lifeguards. They must have the easiest job on the planet - there is one of them for each of the very shallow pools.
