Ravenel Fishing Charters

Overview
Come on a guided adventure with lots of good times and breath taking scenery. Edisto Island is one of the last few untamed places of South Carolina. Not many people are familiar with it's vast unexplored rivers and tributaries and the overabundance of strong fisheries. Few people realize the rich history of this quite little island as well. These two things combined are what makes Captain Justin Ravenel tick. He grew up spending every second of his free time getting to know the secrets of the island and he like's nothing more than to share them with you. The only thing Justin enjoys more than putting you on fish is spending time with his twin baby girls and his AMAZING wife!

Justin Ravenel of Ravenel Fishing Charters is our “go to guy” for fishing. We’ve gone with Justin numerous times and he always puts us on fish and he’s always prepared. This trip I wanted to fish for Sheepshead. Fishing for Sheepshead takes a specific bait and to get this bait is messy and challenging. Justin arrived with plenty of bait, and had our rods rigged. He coached us on what we’d feel and how to catch Sheepshead. I caught 3 huge Sheepshead within 45 minutes! You talk about exciting! We caught lots of average size too! We’ve fished for Redfish on our previous trips, but when I’m in Edisto in April and May I’m going with Justin on a Sheepshead charter! FUN, FUN AND MORE FUN!!!!

Had a super day with Justin. It was everything we hoped and more. Justin is very knowledgeable about the area and an all around great person. We learned so much. From the time we left the dock , we were enchanted. It's an experience you just can't miss if visiting Edisto.

Just being on the water with Justin was a pleasure. He and his family have lived in the area for multiple generations, and he has a true respect for the water and habitat. The famous and picturesque Ravenel Bridge in Charleston was named after a relative who was instrumental in its funding. His mother was and may have been the only female commercial crabber in the area. I wanted someone to take me to Deveaux Bank before sunrise to see the lift off of the 20,000 whimbrels (birds). What impressed me most was Justin was having a family day on Saturday and asked if we could talk the next day. On 24 hours' notice, we put together an ecotour, met at 5:30 and headed out. He could not have been more competent, respectful, and totally focused on what I wanted from the experience. I will be back for fly fishing for red drum in the fall. The Whimbrels didn't cooperate, but we saw thousands of nesting brown pelicans, terns and gulls from a respectful distance. A scruffy bald eagle was perched on a warning sign eyeballing the buffet line. A really nice young family man, competent waterman, and based on the other reviews, I have no doubt a fabulous fishing guide. Come in the fall for Red Drum on the Fly.
