The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Fox Island
Your exploration of Kenai Fjords National Park is enhanced by a chance to step off the boat, stroll the beach and explore on land. This island is rich in inspiration and character.

We had a warm sunny day and saw plenty of sealife! Harbor seals, humpback whales (even a tail!) sea lions, starfish, sea otters, porpoises and cute little puffins! It was an incredible cruise. Wonderful stop at Fox Island which is equally beautiful. Has a little gift shop to get a memento or two. The ship we were on was clean and staffed with attentive and cheerful crew. There’s even a small galley if you want a beverage or a snack. Very informative, educational, and although I live in the interior I was enchanted by Seward all over again! Side note: sensitive tummies may want to have some motion sickness meds on hand or ginger ale.😉 We were out on an oddly calm day for the bay but usually it’s a bit more choppy.

The captain and crew were amazing. The stop at Fox Island was nice. 5.5 house was the perfect amount of time. The captain spent a lot of time when a whale was spotted. Everyone on the boat had a good views of the whale and were able to get many photos. Thank you. The warm cookie on the way back to the dock was a nice touch!

We booked this in June for $125 a person for the 8.5 hour cruise which included lunch on the boat and dinner at Fox Island. This what part of an Alaska locals special due to the shortage of tourists due to Covid-19. The boat was capped at 50% capacity which was 75 people and we all were required to wear masks throughout the cruise. Our captain was Mark and even without knowing any of the other captains, I believe we lucked out. Mark was on his 26th year sailing out of Seward and his narration and expertise really made the trip special. We saw about every possible animal in the area as well as calving glaciers. Dinner at Fox Island was salmon cakes, salad and a corn medley with a roll. For the price we made it was an incredible deal and we would recommend it to anyone new to Alaska. The cruise did get a little long towards the end before the dinner stop.
