Kenai Fjords National Park

In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Fox Island

Your exploration of Kenai Fjords National Park is enhanced by a chance to step off the boat, stroll the beach and explore on land. This island is rich in inspiration and character.

The cruise was wonderful with a very attentive staff. They made sure that everyone was comfortable, had a good time and was able to see wildlife. Fox Island was beautiful. The cookies they baked at the end of the tour was icing on the cake!.

Like most whale tours, it's hit or miss on the whales. We were fortunate enough to see a humpback very close. Compared to a whale and marine mammals cruise we took from Icy Straight Point, it was pretty similar. This included a very good salmon and prime rib lunch buffet, and was a very good start to our land excursion part (after a Royal Caribbean cruise, thru Premiere Tours) In addition to the whale, we also saw eagles, puffins, otters, and sea lions. Clean bathrooms were available on the ship. It could have been because it was so hot and few animal sightings in Denali (we were in Seward on 7/5), but I really thought this was much better than the Tundra Wilderness Tour we did a few days later. We saw animals but they were all very far away (on the TWT tour). I highly recommend this tour if you are in Seward and have time. It was my favorite wildlife tour in Alaska.

The boat ride and staff were excellent and would have gotten 5 stars if it were not for the lunch. There were two separate lines for the buffet salmon lunch, unfortunately my wife went on a different line than I. Two hours after lunch, my wife got violently ill, and had terrible stomach cramps for the rest of the night. She eventually, finally, threw up, and up came the salmon. A bad ending to what otherwise was a great trip.
