1
Resurrection Bay
Kenai Fjords Tours is pleased to welcome you to picturesque Fox Island, in the heart of Resurrection Bay.
2
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.
3
Fox Island
Your exploration of Kenai Fjords National Park is enhanced by a chance to step off the boat, stroll the beach and explore on land. This island is rich in inspiration and character.
4

We take this trip every year. OK, the food is good but not great but the view is spectacular mile after mile and the chocolate chip cookies on the ship are fabulous. Saw five whales fishing together on our last trip

We did the Resurrection Bay Cruise with Fox Island about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate - misty and foggy. About the only wildlife we saw were a few distant otters, some seals, and some birds. The stop at Fox Island lasted an hour. I did not have the prime rib, but I can tell you that they really murdered the salmon - it was totally dried out. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this cruise.

The cruise through Resurrection Bay was gorgeous! We were very fortunate to see a pod of orcas - twice - as they aren't usually easy to find in August. August also has rain showers frequently so bring several warm layers and rain gear. You can't see much from inside and it's stuffy in there, so its best to plan on staying outside. We also saw puffins, otters, sea birds and a golden eagle. The landscape alone was worth the trip. Changing weather had the mountains bathed in sun or wreathed in clouds - both were spectacular. The lunch on Fox Island was not bad. It's a buffet style with salmon, salad, rolls, potato dish, etc. Crab legs are $15 extra. There wasn't much time to do more than eat and get back to the boat. I would have liked a few more minutes to explore a little of the beach. The captain was great; keeping us informed and moving the boat to get a better view of a distant passing orca pod. The pass by the Bear Glacier was very interesting but a bit of a tease as the boat can't get too close to it. There were pieces of the glacier's recent icebergs in the area and the crew grabbed some little pieces to pass around the boat so we could all see the ice up close. A pass through some towering pinnacles to see pufffin roosts was an impressive bit of boatsmanship. All in all a great cruise and well worth it.
