Driver/tour guide Travis is AMAZING! Travis grew up in Hana, and was very knowledgable about the area and was phenomenal driving on those curvy roads getting to Hana. I would not under any circumstance recommend anyone trying to drive those roads unless you're experienced on them! We had looked around a few different Maui excursion companies, and spoke to a few and got the best vibes off of Valley Isle- and took into account the Yelp reviews as well. Prices were great for the full day Road to Hana tour - be sure to check Valley Isle's website for any promotions they may be offering at the time! We paid $264.99/per person, which includes pick-up/drop-off from the hotel, a continental breakfast, and hot lunch. My husband and I were picked up by Travis first. Pick-ups start around 7 AM at your hotel. Travis was really nice and welcoming from the time we entered the bus, and then we picked up the rest of the group. We started our tour off Hana Highway at a restaurant for continental breakfast (see photo in my review), which had a few pastries, fruit (most if not all which was grown on site at the restaurant), and also fresh juice and coffee. Coffee beans were also grown on site which was an additional nice cool touch! We had about 15 minutes for breakfast before starting the tour. We stopped at several places for photos along the way, and for periodic restroom breaks because it is a very long tour throughout the day! We also stopped at a few spots for food including the acclaimed Aunty Sandy's for banana bread and also at the Halfway to Hana spot on the way back from Shave Ice. These spots were not paid for by the tour, but all spots were very affordable (all items less than $10). We never felt pressured to buy anything, but we took part in it as you want to make sure to have energy for the whole tour! :) We stopped in Hana at a spot for lunch, which included a green salad, macaroni salad, and Huli Huli chicken. All food was served buffet style and everything was outstanding! On the way back, we stopped at the black sand beach to swim, followed by a swim at a local waterfall. We were dropped back at our hotel I think between 6:30-7, so it is a long day, but you really get to know your driver, and the people on the tour, so you all feel like a family at the end.

Mahalo nui for this wonderfully detailed review of your tour experience with us! Travis is one of our top guides. He is genuinely passionate about sharing the island culture, history and many little insights of his hometown gem Hana. We're grateful to be able to offer that local connection through wonderful guides like Travis. I am happy to hear you did not feel any pressure to make purchases at any of the stops. At the same time we appreciate your willingness to do so as it supports the local community. Sounds like your day went splendidly. Thank you again for choosing to tour with us and for sharing your review. Malama pono!

So glad we went on a tour and didn't try to drive the Road to Hana. Leave the driving to the porfessional. The tour company was professional, timely and communicated well. Picking us up at our resort, calling us the day before to confirm and make sure we knew what to bring. The guide was on time with pick up. Breakfast at the Maui Plantation was great, The coffee( grown on the plantation) was great ! Our guide stopped many times along the way to hana to allow us to take picture, it rained off and on( bring a raincoat) Too many stops to remember, but all were wonderful. Ending with a quick stop to see the turtles resting on the beach. I counted 25 turtles and there were more! The only things we didn't see was the red sand beach and the 7 pools. But we saw alot along the way Lunch was served at a house just past Hana. They had hand made crafts for sale and restrooms. The other valley Isle buses meet there too, so it was a bit crowded and with only 2 restrooms, it took a bit. Lunch was grilled chicken, macaroni salad, salad, rice. It was not my favorite but didnt ruin the trip. The trip does take the entire day. Left our hotel at 6:30 am and returned at 6:30 p.m. Overall we were happy with the tour and our guide.

Aloha Stacie, Mahalo for your review of our tour and recommendation of our company. Happy to hear you enjoyed your experience overall. There is a lot to do and see. The two places you mentioned that you did not get to visit are for good reason. The Pools at Oheo is about 10 min past Hana and is closed to swimming due to dangers of rockslides and flash flooding. The red sand beach entails a dangerous hike to reach. The original trail washed away sometime ago. For safety reasons, these Hana sights are not a part of our tours and we encourage visitors to be respectful and not venture to dangerous, private, or restricted areas. Some of our guides do take their tours to visit Koki Beach park and there is red sand there along the shore behind the Hulihuli chicken stop. That stop also offers a great view of Alau island. Happy to know you enjoyed your tour and guide overall. Thank you again for your excellent rating. Malama pono!

This was an excellent tour of the road to Hana. Our guide Yvonne was great. Funny friendly and very knowledgeable of all the local sites. The only way to really enjoy all there is to see. You definitely don’t want to have to drive this road yourself. Lots of waterfalls along the way. The large Lava cave was fascinating. Swam at the black sand beach. Plenty of stops along the way. Breakfast at the tropical plantation was a great way to start the trip. Nice small group everyone was very friendly. Picnic lunch at the big cave was tasty. Definitely a must do.

Aloha Donna, Thank you for sharing your review of our tour and highlighting your favorite elements! So happy to hear everything went well. We couldn't agree with you more that a guided tour is the way to go to experience the most of the Road to Hana verses trying to drive oneself. We truly believe it is the best option for visitors. It also supports our Hana community to have less cars on the road and ensuring all visitors explore the beauty of east Maui safely and respectfully. Mahalo nui for touring with us and we hope to host you again soon!
