Overview

Unlike any walking tour in Salem, the Forest Lore Tour takes you outside the heart of downtown and into one of the few remaining wild places in the area, where you learn from a practicing Witch, what it means to experience real magic, why nature is so important, and how to incorporate ancient knowledge into modern life.

Wear your hiking boots and bring your curiosity! This is a one-mile, guided hike that takes to you the crossroads of science, history, and philosophy in Salem Woods. Rain or shine, but we can't operate in snow due to trail conditions.

Learned so much about the plants, mushrooms, and Salem forest that I would have never expected to see! Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about everything in the forest - truly a wonderful time & recommend to everyone if you have the chance to go!

The tour was a very nice break from the chaos of the city in October. I've visited Salem several times and hadn't known about the wooded trails outside of the city center. Parking was easy. I enjoyed the perspectives shared on the magical uses of plants and ecological preservation. My parter and I are practice herbal healing as part of our druidic practice, and so most of the information was not brand new, but it's always nice to hear a fresh take. I really enjoyed the quartz pieces we were gifted at the start of the walk. Mine in particular was lovely. We would have loved an option for a private or even semi-private group tour. Given that the trails are very narrow, a long single file line makes it difficult to hear what's being said, especially if others in the group are carrying seperate conversations. That said, our guide made sure to take opportunities to pause to fill everyone in. Highly recommend.
