Took the train to Salem and decided to take the ferry back to Boston. Great decision, we had an hour of lovely views, fresh air and enjoyed a cold beer once we had docked at Long Wharf.

My first trip to Salem and I took the 9:30am ferry from Long Wharf in Boston. I did get there early to make sure I could get a ticket as I had not pre booked due to weather forecasts at the time. I choose a perfect day to go in the end. It was a glorious day. The cruise was $45 round trip but other pricing categories are available. The ferry took just under an hour and it was easy to find my way into downtown Salem when we arrived. To do the witch sights trail, just like the Boston Freedom Trail, follow the red line on the path and it takes you to all the stops. The last ferry back was at 4pm and there is a bar at the pier for you to chill at if you find you have some time before you head back to Boston. The return trip took a similar time and was very enjoyable. I would take this transport to Salem on my next visit definitely.
