Salem Kids Slightly Spooky Tour

Overview
This tour combines true tales from Salem’s past with some mild ghost stories just for kids age 6+. Our aim is not to scare the heck out of your kids, but to provide a little shiver and bit of mystery for kids who like ghost stories. We are also telling you intriguing historical facts as well. This tour follows a route that is near the downtown, but it’s a little off the beaten path, very picturesque, and you’ll feel as if you stepped back in time. The tour ends at our historic and creepy Broad Street Cemetery, which was established in 1655. Meets at 316 Essex Street.
For over twelve years, parents traveling with kids have chosen Salem Kids Tours for a fun, well-researched and fascinating trip through time. Many times we have heard from kids, “I didn’t want the tour to end.” Parents have described our tours as the highlight of their trip to Salem. We are happy to show you around. We love kids, we understand their unique needs, and we look forward to meeting you on one of our tours.

We booked the Slightly Spooky Tour with our kids (8 and 11) for our first day in Salem. It was a great introduction to this adorable and charming city. Alicia was a fun and knowledgeable guide. She has a great personality and the kids really liked her stories. My son doesn’t have much of an attention span for anything outside of video games, but a week later, I overheard him telling his friend the story of Nathaniel Hawthorne seeing a ghost in the Athenaeum. Both kids also loved seeing “Alison’s house” from the movie Hocus Pocus. We would definitely recommend this fun tour for any families visiting Salem!

The Slightly Spooky tour was great! Alicia was a very funny and engaging guide. The kids in our group ranged in age from 5 to 11, and all remained entertained the entire time. While the tour did mention some ghosts, it was not at all scary. The tour was an hour long and not too much walking; even the youngest children were fine. Definitely a fun thing to do if you are in Salem with kids!

This was a great way to experience Salem with kids. We had never been to the city before and didn’t know what to expect. We loved having some background and we enjoyed seeing neighborhoods and historic sites. My 10-year-old especially loved the spooky stories in the Slightly Spooky Kids Tour.
