Our visit to Ranger Creek Brewery was entertaining and educational. There were four samples of beer to choose from. The staff was very friendly. It was very crowded and difficult to hear our tour guide during the second part of the presentation due to the noise from the machinery. I wish Mark had a microphone. Be prepared for the hot temperature if you're visiting in July. It's worth a visit if you enjoy beer.

Mac, Rita, and Mark really made this Brewstillery tour fun! We went there on the Fourth of July and from the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly people. Mac, or Col. Mac as his shirt said, embodies Texas hospitality and provided good humor during the informative lecture. The beer and bourbon were great and you have to love the passion these people have for what they do. Two hours of informative, fun-filled , and great tasting entertainment. Ps...i totally loved Mac's Weber Grill collection.

I don't know of any other Brewstillery in Texas and there are very few I know of in general in the rest of the country as well. This makes Ranger Creek in San Antonio a unique place and the tour is interesting because you get to see how they intertwine the brewing and distilling operations. You pay a fee for the tour that gets you a pint glass and a couple of full pours as well as small tastings of each of their whiskeys. I preferred the Rimfire, which is a smoky Scotch-style whisky. As for the beer, I probably like OPA (Oatmeal Pale Ale) best. Consider yourself lucky if you get the man in the cowboy hat to give the tour. He's very thorough and has the personality of a cowboy storyteller.
