Coming from Colorado and Washington and having been raised in the Mecca of craft beer and brewery tours I was a little skeptical about a brew tour in an out of the way location in San Antonio. I was eventually talked into taking my father ( a 20 + year craft beer brewer) as part of his father's day present. After finding the location which I will admit pulling in I thought my GPS had to have gone haywire I had mentally set myself to just another beer tour. I could not have been more wrong. The staff were wonderful and my guide/ owner Mark was just gleaming with energy and enthusiasm they sat us down explained the rules of the tour and started us off with no doubt the largest sample beer I have ever seen from a tour. The dark side hop black IPA was without a doubt the clear front runner yet all the beers they had were wonderful. My father loved the tour and smiled in a way I had not seen in at least 15 years. It is without a doubt an experience we will both cherish for years to come. I can not overstate how welcoming and informative the staff are and just how much they enjoyed what they did for a living. I will say this is hands down the most fun I have had in years and if you enjoy good times and good beer you will be doing a great disservice not going to Ranger Creek.

This is not just a craft brewery but also a craft whiskey distillery, the only one of its kind in the state. It is a definite must see attraction whether you live in San Antonio or just visiting. Col. Mac will get you started with the understanding and breakdown of the process and Mark will walk you through the step by step process of how Ranger Creek does this their way. It is not just a one or two beer operation, they are on the right track!

Having been on multiple brewery tours at both macro and craft breweries I will say that this is by far the most educational and exceptional tour I have ever taken. While most tours at other places are free this one is not. However, for only 10 dollars you get 2 full pours of their current beers and either another full beer pour or a group whiskey tasting, You also get to keep the mason jar Ranger Creek glass that you use for tasting. The family including Col. Mac and Mark present a very informational tour. They will detail the process of brewing and distilling and how they differ. They also explain why they are different from most brewers (all Texas ingredients). All the staff are incredibly courteous, welcoming, and appreciative. If i could write a more glowing rating and rate higher than a 5 I definitely would. This is a must-do in San Antonio that I would recommend to the most serious beer/whiskey fan or just someone looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon. Cheers to the Ranger Creek family and prost!
