Our visit to the Riverwalk District of San Antonio was absolutely fantastic. So easy to get around the area and see the popular sites, bars, and restaurants. I can't say enough about the city workers along with river ways and how they all greet you and ask if there's anything you need or if you're finding everything you're looking for.
As for the Hop-on-Off bus tour and River Walk Cruise, both of these are good ways to here about the history of the city, buildings, etc. However, the narration on both was very hard to hear over the back ground noise. I don' think you save anything by purchasing the "package" vs just buying tickets. To us, the Pearl District was the only stop away from the area that was really worth it. Visit The Pearl on the weekend. We rode the bus 1 day out of the 3 day package we had purchased. The only stops I would recommend, unless you're really going to spend time at the museums, would be the Pearl, Market Square, and the Alamo. You can walk to everything, but the Pearl and the Tower is a little further out. I would NOT recommend the Tower for dinner. Go have a drink at the bar and enjoy the few. The qualify of the food was only OK. The service and the food didn't justify cost.
