Overview

Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

From the first impression on the website, to the level of excitement upon seeing the ship, to being amazed at the dexterity of the crew, to the skill of the Captain in maneuvering in such tight quarters and traffic, the name says it all…Next Level Excellence. The weather was perfect, the ship was beautiful and so well maintained, the crew was a mix of inexperienced and seasoned veterans but well trained, disciplined and eager to please. We learned a lot about the various species of whales that live or migrate through San Diego and were able follow a mother Humpback and her yearling calf for several hours. All in all, one of our best experiences doing what we love…being on the ocean and loving the natural world.

They left by 10;45. The page says eleven so we showed up at 10:45 with no signs or directions to a parking lot w no one there. We called looking for the group. We were told the boat was gone and we were supposed to be there at 10? No refund super disappointed!

We are always on time. We attempted to reach this customer by phone and text in order to help them make the trip, but they did not respond to either. They called after check in closed. We are sorry that we missed this guest, but we make it clear that check in starts an hour before departure, closes 30 minutes after, and board immediately. This was a sold out trip, so we were not able to resell their tickets, therefore we can't issue a refund. We always want customers to get value for their tickets. We do allow customers who are late and miss a trip to reschedule to a future date on a standby basis. If this customer has not already rescheduled, they are welcome to do so by calling 619-922-6215.

This was an insanely fun excursion on a 1:1 replica of the America, the fastest boat in the world at the time it was built! Interesting piece of history aside, the boat itself is very beautiful and makes for a smooth ride. We saw multiple pods of dolphins but sadly no whales, which means we get a free ride on this boat for another day! Definitely dress warmly, I got cold and needed a blanket (which I was thankful that they had) even though I had someone to snuggle up with for warmth. Super fun ride, even if we didn’t get to see whales!
