San Diego Whale Watching Cruise

Overview
Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

We had a lovely day out on the ocean on our whale watching trip on the America. What a beautiful sailing ship! The crew were all very attentive and professional. They made a special effort to make everyone feel comfortable and spent time educating the children on board about whales and other sea creatures. Even though we didn't see any whales on our trip, it was still a great cruise. I'm so glad they are still able to take people out during this time. They definitely were taking extra precautions due to the coronavirus and all the guests had plenty of room with ample space between each party. I highly recommend this cruise for everyone, young and old.

What a FUN adventure! I loved that due to COVID, the sail only had a max of 35 people aboard compared to 70! I was able to see water spray out of the whales blowhole and a portion of the whales body, which was neat! I also saw dolphins! These dolphins were not dolphins I've seen previously. I think they were a different species. They appeared smaller; but they were beautiful none-the-less. I loved the hospitality on the cruise, along with the complimentary beverages and snacks offered, multiple times. The bathroom aboard was also very clean. I would definitely recommend this cruise and would love to return myself! P.S. Bring cash to leave a nice gratuity for a job well done! P.P.S. Bring lots of layers. It gets very cold and extremely windy in the open water. Feel free to bring gloves, scarves, hats, coats, jackets, and/or blankets. You will not be sorry.
