Overview

Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

Excellent experience! The crew are friendly and very serious about COVID-19 precautions. They also made it a very enjoyable afternoon cruising on the ocean. No whale-sighting in our case, but lots of dolphins.

It was great! They worked really hard to make sure we got to see animals. The boat was cool, and beautiful! with all of the sails and rigging and watching them use it.. And we didn't feel at all crowded. We watched another tour go by and they looked scrunched in. And the people running it were super nice. They made sure we understood the covid19 rules, offered life jackets, drinks and snacks (drinks and snacks included) One part I really liked is one of the ladies came around with models of the different whales, and explained which ones we were looking for, and when the others usually migrate by, and what to look for to find the whales. All around, the ONLY thing that went bad was me forgetting to put on sunscreen. I recommend this to anyone! Honestly I'm finding myself wanting to go back as soon as possible. Thank you to the crew, you were awesome! One thing I'd like to see is maybe a calendar/chart to show which whales come through in which seasons, or peak seasons for the different species. (all the better to book future reservations!)

This was a wonderful trip. We didnt see whales but they have a guarentee so we get to go back and try again. The day was perfect. The staff was awesome. We got to see a nursery pod of dolphins and one of the staff went out to the end of the front and took some amazing videos and shared with everyone. The ship was beautiful. I highly recommend this trip, its was absolutely wonderful.
