Overview

Whale watching season is all year long in San Diego! Our team at Next Level Sailing provides the optimal experience with guides so experienced we received a 100 percent success rate during winter whale watching when spotting the King of the Deep.

We are one of the best outdoor activities to do in San Diego. Gray whale watching season spans from mid-December through April. Blue whales and fin whales are seen feeding in San Diego from April - August. Humpback whales and minke whales are seen throughout the year, particularly in the spring, summer, and fall. Aboard our 141-foot sailing yacht, the Yacht America, you will see a plethora of whales firsthand in their natural habitat. In addition to whales, we also see dolphins and sea lions, and an abundance of naval activity. Don't be surprised if you see an F-18 fly overhead!

Despite not seeing any whales, they must have taken the day off, this was a lovely day out. Sailing on a beautiful boat with a highly professional, knowledgeable, friendly and courteous crew was a delight. We will take you up on on the unlimited whale watch guarantee when we eventually return to San Diego.

While we didn’t see a whale, we were thoroughly entertained by a pod of hundreds of dolphins! We also saw a navy carrier leaving the bay and out to the ocean while we were returning; something one doesn’t see every day, much less from an ocean view! The America’s crew was friendly and informative. Great day on the water, even without a whale sighting.

Unfortunately no whales but a large pod of dolphins . They give you a rain check for not seeing whales so you can go again. Wrap up well. It’s cold out there! ( they do provide blankets
