What a wonderful Ocean adventure. It starts with a great crew. Big props to Captain Ping and his Mates. Friendly and informative they all worked hard and made sure the trip was enjoyable. The boat "Privateer" is ideal for a whale watch. Plenty of seating on benches and room to move around or stand without being crowded. Trip got off to a slow start as it was extremely overcast and windy. But as the sun peeked out we were treated to the majestic sight of a large humpback whale surfacing about a dozen times. Very enjoyable. Be smart. Apply some sun screen and lip balm, and bring a jacket.

This was a great experience, made even better by the groupon discount. The guide we had was phenomenal - smart, fun, helpful, considerate. We saw hundreds of dolphins and a humpback whale, plus sea lions. Truly extraordinary. Dramamine helped and bring a jacket, it can get windy out there. But a lovely way to spend a few hours. The beer on the boat, btw, is even local and reasonably priced.

We had a wonderful experience with San Diego Whale Watch. We booked it after reading other TripAdvisor reviews. The boat is nice and the staff is excellent! We saw 100+ dolphins and the captain brought the boat through the pod a few times so the dolphins could "surf" our wake and "ride the bow"! The dolphins seemed to really enjoy it too! We even saw a few baby dolphins, my daughter was thrilled! Later, we watched a humpback whale surface several times before it was time for us to head back to shore. The crew of the Privateer is very professional, they were helpful and knowledgeable (and didn't overuse the microphone). I would highly recommend this tour! Tips: dress in layers, it is warm/hot at times and really chilly at times. Bring snacks and water. TAKE the seasick pills an hour in advance -- you will NOT have fun if your are nauseous!!!
