We had a group of 8 that went & we all had a fantastic time! Every crew member there went out of there way to make sure everyone had a fabulous time. (Even the ones who forgot their sea sick pills). The information they gave was superb on all the wildlife & habitat as we passed by & we were so impressed by them spotting a couple whales at the last 1/2 hour of our tour & turning the boat around so we could all experience them! They really went the extra mile for all of us on board! We even got to here the dolphins talking to us along side the ship. We always remember this as the best experience ever seeing about 100 dolphins & 2 gray whales!

I bought a groupon for this tour on a recent trip to San Diego. Even paying full price would have made the trip worth it. We did the short tour (3.5hours) which was long enough. Our group consisted of my grandparents (in their 80s), my parents (in their 50s), my husband and I (in our 20s), it's hard to find activities to please everyone, but this tour fit the bill. We saw sea lions, a grey whale and a pod of 300 dolphins. Do not be intimidated by the size of the boat (it seats 150 i think), everyone had a seat with a view of the water. A few tips: Bring snacks and water (they do have them available for purchase but easier to bring your own) Bring sunscreen (even on a cloudy day the CA sun can be brutal) wear a jacket or bring a blanket(it gets chilly on the water) bring motion sickness medicine- just in case!

There are many whale watch companies in San Diego and all are pretty good. San Diego Whale Watch is the best. Their naturalist, Melissa, knows tons about the animals. The boat is comfortable and well equipped. The crew is friendly and helpful and the skipper knows how to position the boat for the best viewing and photography.
