San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview

Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

We spent a pleasant 3 hour tour with this group and found the naturalist to be very knowledgeable and energetic. We saw lots of dolphins (which is a whale, technically) and a young humpback whale that we watched for about 2 hours. All in all it was worth the money. We had hoped they had gone out further to look for more individual whales. After the tour we stopped at the nearby fish place, probably no relation to the whale tour group. The fish place was disgusting. Move on elsewhere for your meal afterwards

Boat left on time, went out over five miles from shore, beautiful morning. Saw only one whale, who put on a show, blowing water and breeching five times, completely out of the water each time. Then ran into a school of dolphins that surrounded the boat for nearly 45 minutes. Right next to boat on both sides. Great experience all around. Will return.

The crew were excellent! Very knowledgeable! We found and followed "Twitch" a young humpback whale. Saw many common dolphins, sea lions, and several different species of birds. Only criticism - it seemed like we spent the bulk of our time following Twitch - wish we had searched for more whales/wildlife instead.
