San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

What a wonderful, memorable day with my kids and grandkids. Really nice boat, very knowledgeable and friendly staff, a humpback whale and probably 200 dolphins.....what more could you ask for? We had a ball!

We booked last min online the night before and were able to secure 4 spaces for the 1:30pm departure time. Their website was easy to navigate, tickets were emailed right away. We thought the price was more than reasonable, $35 per person, given the high prices for everything touristy in California. The boat was medium sized, clean, 2 restrooms, snack bar w beer and wine, and was more than adequate. The guides were incredible offering all kinds of information about the wildlife we could potentially see. We were able to view an amazing cluster of tuna predation which attracted a minke whale. Later we happened upon a large pod of common dolphins, the captain did a good job in positioning the boat to ensure everyone got a good view. Sea lions were spotted several times. Although we didn’t see any other baleen whales, the 3 hr trip was more than worth it. In fact, because we didn’t see any other whale species they gave every passenger a 50% off coupon for a future visit, an incredible gesture which impressed us because we thought the trip was a success. I’d highly recommend this whale watching experience and we’ll sign up again the next time we’re in San Diego.
