Rented bikes from Union Square. Team were efficient but the bikes we got were clunkers and were not well maintained. Unfortunately we did not realise this until we had ridden for awhile as there is no room to test ride your bike before you start. We rode to the Ferry Building Farmers Market and then over Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. The ride was harder then it needed to be due to the condition of the bikes and the wind. The bridge itself was awesome but really windy, cold and noisy. On the weekend there are lots of fast cyclists using the bike path on the bridge so you need to keep your wits about you on the narrow sections where work is being done. There were more hills along the route than we expected,

Great experience! Made the bike rental online with the 20% discount and picked up the bikes a short walk away from our hotel in Union Square. Everyone at Blazing Saddles was friendly and professional. We were on our way with helmets securely fastened and maps in hand in just a few minutes. My teenage son and I rode from Union Square, across the Golden Gate Bridge and to Saulsalito. After the hills, the return ferry was a much appreciated ride! Would definitely rent again!

Blazing Saddles at Fisherman’s Wharf is perfectly located to hire a bike for a ride over the bridge. We joined the many others who hired bikes for a self guided ride over the bridge. It is very easy to follow their instructions to Sausalito. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the ferry tickets were included in the hire price; that made it better value and much easier to get the ferry back to SF. We took their recommendation to go to the Joinery for lunch, and weren’t disappointed. Great meal and views over the water. The staff were very well organised. Don’t be expecting a high end bike - but they do the job and have comfy seats (which would matter if you don’t ride often).
