Overview

"Getting there" should be the fun part. Combine the advantages of sailing with the freedom of a kayak. Light-weight beachable craft open up areas that are difficult to access by heavy boats. While large sails and foot pedal drives allow quick travel between places that may be too distant for other human powered craft. Escape the crowds of the few places serviced by the Washington State Ferry System and explore the waters and remote islands of the San Juans.
Camp at remote beaches, cliff side sites, and/or tiny islands. Meals are prepared by your guide(s) with fresh and, as often as possible, locally sourced ingredients.

Each traveler gets their own personal tent, sleeping bag, and air mattress. All activates take place in the open air, as well as the design of the boats naturally forces social distancing (the amas or outriggers, keep people in boats more than 6 feet apart).

What an adventure! Really wanted to experience the San Juan Islands but just looking at a map was intimidating. Put my full trust in our guide Clayton and it paid off. From teaching me how to sail, setting us up with new camping gear and protective equipment, to cooking dinner and making fires, this was really a full service tour. Clayton never stopped working for us, checking the tides and currents and even ferry schedules along the way to make sure we were maximizing our adventure time. If you’re thinking about it, stop. BOOK A TOUR!

I was nervous booking this trip because there weren’t a ton of reviews, but I’m so thankful that I did!! Easily one of the best adventures of our lives - our guide, Clayton, was AMAZING! We are a chaotic family of six (without any experience) and he was SO patient with all of us and ensured the trip was safe and enjoyable for all ages. Clayton was an incredibly knowledgeable guide who knew a ton about the area and was able to show us hidden things we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. I’m still in awe! 10/10 recommend this trip - ask for Clayton!!

As someone previously afraid of the ocean, I found a love of sailing joining Clayton on a 3 day trip thru the San Juan Islands. This is a fantastic tour for anyone even if you have no idea how to sail. After one day out on the water, I felt like I knew what to do and enjoy the ocean, even with waves our first day thru the Rosario Strait. Clayton had everything expertly prepared, taught us what we needed to know to be safe and have fun. He provided delicious meals and hilarious entertainment and stories of his life adventures while on the trip. The equipment is great and you will be provided with what you need for the trip. Clayton offers decades of various life and work experience from the guide world and wilderness medicine to create a tour you won't regret taking. Thanks to him, I'm ready to take my friend's Hobie Cat out on Lake Tahoe this summer!
