To begin with, our guide Jay could not have been nicer. He was considerate enough to try to contact two people who weren't at the meeting point on time before beginning the tour (They made it before we had gone very far.). He was energetic and informative about the food and restaurant scene, including the history of the places we visited and some others we did not. It was easy to see that he has a passion for the tings he's talking about. He was also considerate of the folks on the tour to make sure everyone was comfortable. He even seemed to have built a genuine rapport with the people who spoke with us at the establishments we visited. At each restaurant, we were given enough food to really get an idea of the type of cuisine each had to offer. By the end of the tour, we had definitely had a whole meal. This included wine and drinks as well. At the distillery, we also sampled several spirits. One person in our group even bought a bottle to take home. Several people also made reservations at the restaurants on the spot. At each establishment, we got to meet at least one of the owners/chefs/sommeliers and in each case, they spent time with us explaining the food and drink we were experiencing. The food covered everything from authentic New Mexican to some of the highest rated cuisine in the city. And it was all within walking distance of the Railway District. This was a fantastic experience, especially for the price. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Santa Fe.
