Santa Fe Railyard Farmers Market Food Tour

Overview
Skip the long lines and dive into the bold, smoky, and complex flavors of traditional New Mexican cuisine with a chef-guided lunch at La Choza—the beloved sister restaurant of The Shed. Starting in the Santa Fe Railyard, we’ll take a scenic stroll along the historic Rail Trail before settling in for an exclusive, three-course meal at this local favorite, renowned for its award-winning red and green chile.

Led by a culinary expert, this immersive lunch explores the origins and evolution of New Mexico’s distinct cuisine, with a comparative tasting that highlights the key differences between Mexican and New Mexican flavors. To elevate the experience, we’ll celebrate Santa Fe’s status as the Margarita Capital of America with a top-shelf margarita pairing for each course, showcasing different styles and expressions of this iconic cocktail.

After indulging in a feast of local flavors, we’ll finish on a sweet note with a locally inspired dessert at Santa Fe’s premier craft ice creamery

We were a group of 7 ladies who had the perfect restaurant tour. Our tour was arranged by Joe Griffith. He went out of his way to make our tour happen. We came in early May and tours listed on-line were not available on Tuesday or Wednesday, our only available days. I contacted Joe by email and he agreed to give us a tour. We were very grateful. Everyone was thrilled with the restaurants, the talks by the chefs, the food and drink choices they made and with their kindness and hospitality. Joe even arranged the tour so some of us could walk and some could ride. His knowledge of the area and it's history kept us interested as we were not familiar with the Railyard District. It was a memorable, fun and delightful experience.

Hi Diana, Your group was such a delight! It was a very special experience for me to see so many lifelong friends and I was thrilled that you were able to include my tour as part of reunion weekend. When possible we are able to offer private tours and custom itineraries. It worked so well to have your group drive from stop to stop! I'm also really glad we were able to make the Tuesday date work for you. I hope all is well in Oklahoma and thanks so much for visiting Santa Fe! Do take one of my other tours next time you're back in town. Cheers, Joe

And it's always an extra treat to have a chance to hear from the restaurant owners and chefs, so I'm glad you found them engaging. Also glad to hear that Jay did a great job! Thanks for visiting Santa Fe and taking our Railyard tour! Come back again soon. Cheers, Joe

We enjoyed walking the bike path, eating at Boxcar Restaurant with their industrial design was great as they used local and organic food that they purchase at the Farmers Market on Saturdays which is a must visit. My husband enjoyed the draft beer at Second Street Brewery and I liked wine tasting at ViVace Tasting Room! Easy place to park verses the historic downtown Santa Fe area.

Thanks so much for joining us on a tour! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed exploring the Railyard with us and sampling food and drink from some of our favorite spots in town, like Second Street for beer and Vivac for wine. Thanks for your review! Cheers, Joe
