Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview

There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

So much fun! This adventure came on high recommendation from family friends - as totally awesome thing to do while in the Sarasota Bay area! We set out into the bay area first and not only saw dolphins (2) we also saw manatees! The mangrove tunnels were very cool - such a unique experience! Our children aged 9 and 11 really loved it! Really a wonderful afternoon. Our guide Chris was super fun and very knowledgeable - very personable and engaging - he knew everyone by name within the first 5 minutes...just a nice guy! Totally recommend Sea Life Kayak Adventures and the Guided Mangrove Tunnel Tours to anyone - even if you have never kayaked before - like me!

This was a fun area to explore by Kayak. The cooler temperature (mid March) limited our mamas and bird sightings but the mangrove tunnel was worth the price for the tour. Chris our guide kept the 16 person group all engaged/entertained.

The guided kayak tour through the mangroves with Chris was even better than we expected. Shortly after we started we ran into a pod of dolphins. After watching for awhile we went in search of manatees. Since it was cold and overcast we did not have any luck but we did run into another family of dolphins. Then we kayaked thru the mangrove tunnels. Chris pointed out all kinds of birds, sea creatures, raccoons, etc. Chris was great at explaining what we were seeing, pointing things out and great at knowing all of our names!! I would highly recommend this trip and will do it again when I am in the area.
