Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview

There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

First, we had a great guide, Chris. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about nature and what he does. My wife and I had a tandem kayak which had comfortable seats and backrests. We paddled out in to the bay and came upon a group of manatees. We were able to to watch them move around and come up for air. I think we were lucky since they didn't seem to mind us floating around them very close by. We moved on to a sand bar to stretch our legs for a few minutes and then on to the mangrove tunnels. On the way, we saw lots of dolphins. It was fun navigating through the mangroves and scenic too. Chris helped guide all the way. I recommend this tour.

This was our first time taking a “guided” kayak tour and we were not disappointed! Our guide, Ben, was extremely knowledgeable. We learned about and saw multiple types of birds, dolphins, sea stars, sea urchins, and also had a great experience paddling through the mangrove tunnels. Had a great time and will definitely go back next year.

Kayaking through Lido Key's mangrove tunnels, I saw a beautiful part of Sarasota I never knew existed. My tour guide, Chris was very friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I was a first time kayaker but with a few short instructions, Chris had me paddling with confidence. I also really enjoyed kayaking out in the Bay surrounded by pelicans and cormorants diving into the water for breakfast. Great tour!
