Bonaventure Cemetery
During this 2.5 hour tour, you will be joining a very exclusive club of people who have seen the cemetery after it closes to the public. Not since it opened in 1846 has this been an opportunity, but thanks to your very special local host, now it is. You are literally locked in the cemetery the entire time; for the right taker, there's no price you can put on the joy of that. Imagine having the serenity, stillness, and quiet of the cemetery, uninterrupted by the living world. Stories stretch from the present day all the way back to Bonaventure's plantation beginnings in 1754. Our topics range from the funny and uplifting to the macabre at its most morbid. Some of the stories that will be covered include those of: • A "hooch runner" for Al Capone • A bizarre love story that ended in one murder and one visit to the electric chair • Savannah's role in The DaVinci Code • Lady Minerva & Jim Williams in Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil

This was not my first choice when booking a tour of Bonaventure but I am glad my first choice was unavailable. Shannon was very knowledgable and entertaining. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the 2+ hours we spent listening to his stories about the cemetery, the sculptures, and some of it's inhabitants. It was especially nice hearing about the occupants that Shannon had known personally. We are already planning on booking a private tour on our next trip!

Four of us had the pleasure of touring Bonaventure Cemetery with Shannon. First, I would suggest it's a mistake to tour the cemetery on your own since it is so vast and there are just too many stories and so much history you would miss unless you are willing to do hours of research. Secondly, I can't imagine any other guide more knowledgeable, informative and witty than Shannon. Clearly he is a man who has done his homework and more importantly enjoys sharing the stories of the deceased as if he knew each one of them personally. He speaks from the heart and is not just reciting from a rehearsed script. We leisurely walked the various paths with ample time for questions and answers. The entire experience was outstanding and I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in the history of Savannah and her former residents...or more appropriately her permanent residents!

Don't miss this tour that is full of surprising facts and anecdotes by a master storyteller. I have been to Savannah over a dozen times but this was the first time adventuring out to Bonaventure Cemetery. I learned more in 2 hours than in any other previous tour about Savannah.
