I booked this tour for my 2 year anniversary and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Our guide was very knowledgeable of the local history pertaining to the city origins and to its culinary history. At each stop our guide gave us a detailed rundown on each food item and how it pertained to Charleston and its history. We finished the tour with a full stomach and lots of new knowledge about Charleston. I will be back to do this tour again with friends and family!

This food tour was not indicative of the food that Charleston is famous for. No grits, no She Crab soup, etc. No dessert. Only one stop had a decent sized serving. I left needing dinner plans, which has never happened with a food tour. One stop was at a spice store (interesting, and we all bought spices) but the samples were tiny (3 kernels of popcorn, 6 tiny oyster crackers, a teaspoon of granola, and a teaspoon of pimento cheese) and the explanation by the shop person was completely rushed. The tour guide should have given the explanation and let us try a larger sample while we tried each spice. Everything was rushed and the tour guide, while nice, gave us too little culture or history. We arrived at our last stop a full 30 minutes early. After enjoying about 15 food tours worldwide, this was my least favorite. I contacted the tour company and offered to give friendly and constructive criticism before leaving a negative review, but they did not contact me except to say they weren't open and would contact me later, which they didn't do. A big disappointment. I suggest you take a food tour everywhere you travel, but pick a different one in Charleston.

imissneworleans, We are very sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We have many restaurant partners that we use for our tours and the stops are not always the same from tour to tour. The food is intended to represent both the history of the Low Country in addition to showcasing what the food scene has evolved into over the last few decades. As for your message, you did send a message to our office at 11PM on a Friday night and our Tour Guide Manager was out of the office until Monday morning. We are more than happy to offer you a refund for the experience. Feel free to reach out to our Tour Guide Manager, Andrew Kuhn, at [email protected] to discuss further.
