We came to Charleston expecting a wonderful food tour, given the quality of chefs and restaurants in the city. This culinary tour visited none of those. The tour included a good biscuit shop at the Historic Market with a nice sample , cookie stand in the Historic Market for samples anyone would receive by asking, and a spice and spread shop where the the bites were the samples the shop had for any guests. We visited a candy shop and did get a praline. We visited only two restaurants, an Oyster place where we were seated and served one shrimp, a spiced rice dish, a finger bowl of SheCrab soup and a hush puppy and a bbq place again seated and offered bbq slider with very little meat and a cheese hush puppy. The food and shops visited were hugely disappointed. The tour guide did know her history of local foods, but had little to do with the food we were eating. Expect to be hungry after the tour after eating lots of carbs.

We want each and every tour to be memorable. Please contact Randy Johnson, our Guide Manager, at [email protected] to discuss ways we can make this right. We are always looking for ways to improve our culinary tours and your feedback has been very helpful in that regard. Many thanks for letting us know.

We took the tour in May 2019 with a group of 8. Our guide Margie was very knowledgeable and friendly. She talked about history of the "low country" cuisine which I found very interesting. The only part of the tour that was underwhelming was the last stop - desert. She took us to Candy factory, which is a chain from Savannah. We got pieces of chocolate and fudge. I was hoping for accenting Charleston desert. But still giving it 5 stars as all other stops were great.
