Overview

Walk, talk and taste your way through historic Charleston South Carolina. This small-group 2.5-hour tour will immerse you in the history and culture of the Lowcountry and allow you to experience a remarkable culinary scene in downtown Charleston. Stops along the way will include many of the city’s leading restaurants through out the city. Typical tastings include: stone ground grits, Southern pralines, sweet tea, collard greens, Lowcountry barbeque, and fried green tomatoes.

Built in the early 1800's, this four block historical landmark was originally the city's grocery store. Today, the City Market is home to a variety of local vendors that sell their art, crafts, and local wares.

Beth from Bulldog made this a very interesting and delicious tour. We tasted food from 5 places, two of which were sit-down restaurants, one we sat outside while enjoying tasty biscuits, and the other two were a candy shop and a spice shop. The Bar-B-Q was particularly good. But learning the history behind local foods was fascinating and Beth was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide.

This was a fantastic food tour walking all around the Old Market Area. We were able to taste some wonderful dishes and learn the history of the food and the area.The group was small enough that it was easy to hear our guide and I never felt lost in a crowd.

Great tour- Mary was perfect- both knowledgable and informative. The food was delicious and it was also nice meeting interesting folks from around the country. A unique and memorable afternoon! Would definitely try another tour with this company on our next visit.
