Our first stop was at the market for a biscuit and grits. We had to sit outside on a street with trucks, cars, exhaust and noise. Our 2nd stop was at a spice shop where we smelled spices and were told to try the samples that were given to the general public. Oh, we got a coupon for 20% off any purchase. Our 3rd stop was at a candy shop where we tasted teeny tiny samples of candy. We were given a praline in a bag as we left. We then walked one block to an oyster place. We sat at a table and ate one deep fried shrimp wrapped in bacon, red rice was passed around and we all had a hush puppy. The last stop was at a bbq. We sat at a table and received a slider with a few shreds of beef, a pimento stuffed deep fried hush puppy, and corn bread. Our guide explained about the different red and yellow sauce but we didn't receive any until we were just about ready to leave. All in all, a very disappointing experience. Even though our guide, Franny, was knowledgeable and interesting. I would not recommend this tour.

I had a private tour with Mary, she was fabulous on history and I could ask anything. We went to three restaurants for a lovely sampling of local food including grits that I really liked. We also sampled at a spice shop and a candy store that sent me off with a bag of goodies. Highly recommend.
