Overview

Walk, talk and taste your way through historic Charleston South Carolina. This small-group 2.5-hour tour will immerse you in the history and culture of the Lowcountry and allow you to experience a remarkable culinary scene in downtown Charleston. Stops along the way will include many of the city’s leading restaurants through out the city. Typical tastings include: stone ground grits, Southern pralines, sweet tea, collard greens, Lowcountry barbeque, and fried green tomatoes.

Built in the early 1800's, this four block historical landmark was originally the city's grocery store. Today, the City Market is home to a variety of local vendors that sell their art, crafts, and local wares.

Walking tour in the area of City Market. Stops at a number of restaurants to sample food and hear background on the culinary history of the low country. Deena was our guide and she was very good. The food samples were very good and were included in the tour price. Drinks were for your own account. The last stop was a chocolatier. Not a bad ending.

When the tour started we thought it was going to be hokey and discussed a possible exit strategy...but the walking food tour turned out to be one of the best things we did while in Charleston. Karen gave us so much history while taking us to really great places to try amazing local food. Don't hesitate to take this tour! Don't eat breakfast before!!!
