What To Expect

Defiance Rafting

Your experience starts by meeting at the Defiance boathouse in No Name, CO in beautiful Glenwood Canyon (which is just 2 miles east of the community of Glenwood Springs). There, we will gear you up, talk about the trip, and introduce you to your river pro. Then we'll shuttle up the canyon to Grizzly Creek where we will put-in on the Colorado River. You'll begin your scenic float right away as we navigate down the lower half of Glenwood Canyon. There will be occasional splashes and opportunities to jump in the water through lower Glenwood Canyon and into the community of Glenwood Springs. • Class I–II • Trip Length: 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours (dependent on river flow) • Departs daily @ 9:00 am; 1:00 pm; and 4:00 pm • Check-In is 45 minutes prior to departure • Requirements: Paddlers must weigh at least 30lbs.

We (me and two teenagers) wanted to spend some time on the river but were looking for something more relaxing than adventurous. The scenic canyon float was perfect! Taylor was our guide and she was awesome - super friendly, knowledgable about the river and the area in general, shared some funny stories as well as insider restaurant recommendations and did all the rowing while we relaxed and enjoyed the float! After a short drive to the put in point, we floated for a bit with just a few little rapids to make it fun, then stopped at a deep part of the river to swim. A bit later down the river we stopped and enjoyed the natural hot springs along the banks for about a half hour while we waited for the other rafts in our group to catch up. All in all a great way to spend a hot day, soaking up the sun on the river and looking at the incredible scenery all the way down the canyon. Highly recommend!

We had a great time on the scenic route! Our guide shared lots of information about the surrounding area, we had the chance to get out and swim, and our 4 year old even loved being able to sit at the front of the raft. We highly recommend rafting with Defiance!
