What To Expect

Defiance Rafting

Your experience starts by meeting at the Defiance boathouse in No Name, CO in beautiful Glenwood Canyon (which is just 2 miles east of the community of Glenwood Springs). There, we will gear you up, talk about the trip, and introduce you to your river pro. Then we'll shuttle up the canyon to Grizzly Creek where we will put-in on the Colorado River. You'll begin your scenic float right away as we navigate down the lower half of Glenwood Canyon. There will be occasional splashes and opportunities to jump in the water through lower Glenwood Canyon and into the community of Glenwood Springs. • Class I–II • Trip Length: 2 hours to 2 1/2 hours (dependent on river flow) • Departs daily @ 9:00 am; 1:00 pm; and 4:00 pm • Check-In is 45 minutes prior to departure • Requirements: Paddlers must weigh at least 30lbs.

Not a particularly outdoorsy person, I was tolerant of family plans for a calm-water river rafting excursion. Joke’s on me! I had a marvelous time. Just enough whitewater for a bit of a splash, but no white knuckling. Our guide and raftrunner, Charlotte, was delightful, friendly, calm, and in control. Rafts, personal flotation devices, splash gear are all clean and in good condition. My wife chose this company based on reviews from others and it really paid off. We are already planning a return with more family members.

Heather and Charlotte suggested duckies for our girls group and we had a blast! They were so accommodating, friendly and knew what would make our girls time the best. We definitely recommend using this family owned business!! But do NOT stay at Glenwood Canyon Resort.. although it is right there, stay somewhere else and drive to Defiance Rafting!!

We went as a family with 17 yo special need, 16 yo and 5 yo and had a great time. Our 17 yo was so nervous before and in the beginning of the ride, but he started enjoying it after about 15 minutes into the ride. Our 5 yo loved it and had a great time, and the rest of us had a great time together. My tip would be drink a lot of water during the trip because the ride is so enjoyable and the scenery is so beautiful that we forgot the basic things sometime. We love our guide Taylor. She was very kind and accommodating especially to our 17 yo. Great company to go with for this experience.
