SF Native Local Food Tour

Overview
The Original Tour covers the most popular neighborhoods of San Francisco to provide the best local introduction to the city. The tour starts in the heart of the financial district underneath the Transamerica Pyramid. After our group introduction in SF's smallest redwood park, we'll weave our way through the secret side of downtown to see parts of the city that even locals often miss! As we explore the historical Barbary Coast we share family stories of the Wild West during the Gold Rush years. After learning about these lawless times, we'll make our way into North Beach (our Little Italy) as we sample a plethora of snacks and introducing our groups to local community businesses. We'll end the tour in our most authentic historic neighborhood, Chinatown. In Chinatown we'll visit stores and marketplaces that sell unique items, both dead & alive(!), while trying delicious authentic dim sum. Finally, we'll finish up by visiting the fortune-cookie factory and the "living room" of Chinatown.

Stuart brings authenticity and enthusiasm plus a thorough story of the chapters explored in San Franciscoʻs expansive hxstory. The knowledge and presentation of the the cityʻs intersectionality of stories of people, place, and time are punctuated in the food sampled along the tour. By the way, the samples are not just toothpick bites, you enjoy full servings! This is certainly a must do activity, cannot recommend it enough! Stuart offers a model of what hxstory classes should offer in order to understand the complexities of people and changes over time.

This was such a fun experience! Stuart is a wealth of information of SF history and makes the tour interesting with photos and stories of his family's time here throughout five generations. The food is delicious and plentiful, the sites are beautiful, plus it's fun to walk around and see the buildings and everything up close. Definitely a unique and interactive tour, much more than my bus tour experiences. Highly recommend Stuart as your SF tour guide. You won't leave disappointed...or hungry :D

I used to be a tour guide and ran into Stuart often. He was always the friendliest, most enthusiastic guide on the streets. I finally took his tour and not only is it informative, it is chock full of the joy I've come to expect from him. The history is a mix of SF history, fun local secrets, geeking out about our geography, and mixing in Stuart's family history in SF which dates back to the 1800's! The food is an incredible spread of local favorites! I live in North Beach and I go to some of these places regularly so I can attest that you're getting a true local's tasting menu. My favorite deli is on the route and Stuart has a deal with them to get a specially made charcuterie platter! What a treat! I can't recommend this tour enough. The other folks who joined are so friendly and the group feeds off of Stuart's postivity. If you join this tour, you'll certainly fall in love wiht our city.
