Overview

Kauai Offshore Adventures operates the only raft capable of crossing the channel to Niihau- The Forbidden Island. Niihau has some of the clearest water anywhere in Hawai'i and a variety of sea life that cannot be matched. Our captains will introduce you to the history and geography of the fascinating island before finding a beautiful snorkeling location to set up an anchor and get in the water. Common sights in the waters around Niihau include endangered Hawaiian Monk Seals, Hawaiian Sea Turtles, Tropical Reef Fish, Manta Rays, Small Harmless Sharks, Whale Sharks, Octopus, and everything else that can be imagined. In this winter time, we will also be able to see Humpback Whales in the channel. Guests who book this tour should be comfortable in the ocean and have some familiarity with snorkeling.

Enjoy the exhilarating power of our Super Raft- Kauai Voyager I, as we race across the 18 mile channel to our destination. At Niihau, enjoy snorkeling in some of the cleanest water anywhere in Hawaii. As the only raft capable of venturing to Niihau, we are able to provide our guests with a true once in a lifetime experience.

The captain and crew were attentive and friendly, providing great information on the islands and local spots to visit. They were very cautious of everyone’s safety and comfort. We saw spinner dolphins, a young monk seal, humunukuapua’a, parrot fish, Angel fish, a ton of other fish, sea urchins, star fish and even a sea cucumber! Simply an amazing time and highly recommend Captain J’s charters.

Sounds like you can appreciate a great day! It also sounds like to whole cast showed up for you. Yes Niihau is an adventure we love to share. It is really getting away to the good stuff. Water clarity is insane and Lehua does have a way of captivating the mind. You forgot to mention all the sea birds emanating over the ocean from this sanctuary. We saw monk seals and LOTS of fish. The waters in this spot were so clear. The crew was amazing. Definitely worth taking this tour.

My friends and I had such an amazing trip to Ni'ihau with captain J. The boat ride there was super smooth and the weather was perfect. We saw Dolphins, humpback whales, melon head whales, massive manta rays, a huge ton of fish, and big underwater arch ways and 300ft shelf drop offs. I was so bummed I didn't have a gopro for all the underwater shots but his crew had a gopro and captured all the amazing photos and videos and we were able to airdrop all the cool footage and now I have all the memories to keep forever! Absolutely a great time, would definitely recommend going to Ni'ihau with Captain J and his crew

Aloha Melody, It was a picture perfect day! We got to use our go pro on a 12 ft extension and Kannon took it thought the arches. It was great to capture everything and everyone having a once in a lifetime encounter. To think we saw so much in just a couple hours. My favorite was the Manta Rays but even the baby Kagami in the harbor were a sight to see. Great to have you out enjoying an over the top encounter with your friends. Thanks for sharing.
