Overview
How did the Battle of Gettysburg affect the small bustling town, & the people who called it home? As you travel through the Heritage Center, discover what life was like before, during and after the battle. This story of courage & turmoil is told through engaging 3-D videos, interactive displays, text panels containing excerpts from letters & diaries, artifacts & memorabilia.  The popular, "Cellar Experience," is included in the tour.  Experience what it was like for the townspeople who were confined to their basements, listening as the battle was fought around them. The tour concludes with the Award-Winning movie, "Gettysburg: Animated Map," which was produced by the Civil War Trust. The movie, which covers the three days of fighting, is a good orientation & overview on the battle. We really enjoyed our visit to the Gettysburg Heritage Museum. A different approach to the historic battle. Great to relive the experiences of the residents of Gettysburg. Highly recommended.

We hadn't visited Gettysburg since we were teens over a decade ago, so when we learned of the remodel here, we thought we were bummed. I did not expect this level of high quality display of history at the heritage center and was blown away! This museum makes you feel like you are really there experiencing the civil war era. The heritage did not disappoint. 10/10 recommend for history nerds and families on a trip like us! Our kids are 11 and 7 and also really enjoyed the experiences. Loved it and will be back!

The museum closes at 4. We arrived there at 3:15 and they would not let us in. You must be there by three. Your website did not tell us that.

I am sorry to hear you did not have a good experience. In order to experience the entire museum, and orientation movie, it takes at minimum 1 hour. I did double check our listing, and it notes last entrance is 1 hour prior to closing. We are happy to extend your ticket to another visit, or if you prefer, issue a refund through Viator. I apologize for the confusion. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss with you further, and take care of processing your refund. 717-334-6245.
