I went solo to this very educational visit to the museum. The museum exhibit starts with a trip to the theater to watch a 20 minute video of the Battle of Gettysburg. The movie is very descriptive about the battle. Next I went into a man made civilian house where the re enactment of how civilians dealt with the war at the time. It was very interesting and I was very impressed by this experience. The rest of the museum shows real life civilian testimonies of the battle and the Gettysburg address. I highly recommend a visit here.

So happy to hear you enjoyed your visit to our museum! It is a great place to start when you come to Gettysburg. We try to lay the foundation of what took place, so that when you go out and explore the town and the battlefield, you have a basic understanding of the events that unfolded here in 1863. From the sounds of it, we were able to accomplish all of that for you! Please stop back and visit with us again! Thank you! Stephanie

People that book this tour on TripAdvisor need to know that this is not the National Park System tour. This museum is clean and has some interesting displays. It is located downtown but not near National Park System Visitor Center.

Thank you for your review. We are not the National Park Service Visitor Center and Museum. Our museum takes a look at the battle from the perspective of the civilians - what did they did before, during and after the battle. We tell their story a couple different ways, utilizing 3D programming, artifacts, interactive displays, video programs and text panels. We also have the "Gettysburg Animated Map" which does and excellent job of orienting visitors to the battle by explaining troop movements during battle. I'm sorry we were not the museum you expected to see. Had we known when you visited that there was confusion, we would have gladly worked with you. We want everyone to enjoy their visit to Gettysburg. Thank you, Stephanie
