Pass through the Medieval Europe gallery on your way to the Studiolo from the Ducal Palace. Explore armory form the Middle Ages, including pieces worn by Henry VIII. The American wing hosts the staircase from the Chicago Stock Exchange as well as the famed portrait of Washington crossing the Delaware. A host of European painters including Vermeer, Picasso, and Van Gogh await you as you learn about their troubled yet exciting lives. All the while, your guide will explain how this iconic American museum differs from its older European counterparts, especially since it began before the United States was even 100 years old. What a museum, phenomenal. We were guided by Katherine who gave us a great overview with a lot of explanations and taking into account what the customer was interested in. There were 2 kids in our group and she actively involved them, very nice.

This was our first semi-private tour and it was refreshing and very insightful. Our guide Mark was well versed in Art and really enhanced the museum experience. He was warm, friendly, and invited discussion from all. The input from others was also wonderful. Resoundingly, we recommend booking this outing with Mark for a first visit to the Met. It’s perfect for those that only have time to visit highlights from the permanent collection and cannot spend all day at the museum. It was kid friendly as well.

Mark was a phenomenal guide and his enthusiasm for art made the experience memorable for my family. We truly enjoyed all of the points of interest and highlights he brought to attention. He has a great perspective and knowledge of art. Mark is so dynamic that other patrons that were not part of our group were listening in on the interesting points of view. I would highly recommend this tour if you want to get the most out of your visit at the Met. The best time is 10:30am if it is available since the museum gets busier as the day progresses.
