I never knew about this museum until seeing it on Facebook. My son is an engineer so when he and his wife came to visit we decided to check it out. The whole museum is based on all the wqays people work since biblical times until now. Well the art is amazing with both paintings and sculpture. They had a great exhibit on many products invented in Milwaukee. The building itself is a work of art ! Free parking. Just a great way to spend a few hous.

A high-quality art museum operated by the Milwaukee School of Engineering. This was one of several interesting specialty museums that I visited on my trip, and I particularly appreciated the low admission price (non-MSOE students pay $3). The whole museum is dedicated to showing works that have to do withā€¦work! There are galleries showing agriculture, alchemy, manufacturing, seafaring, forestry, and all manner of other occupations. Most of what was on display were paintings, but they have sculpture and other media on display as well. The historical periods which their collections span is impressive, and the facility itself looks as professional as any major museum. If you visit, do not miss the rooftop sculpture garden, which features bronze statues overlooking the streets below. Anyone looking to snap a creative shot of Milwaukeeā€™s skyline would do well to get their photos up here.

From the larger than life size bronze statues on the 4th floor rooftop garden to wonderful paintings to videosā€”-the history of labor of children, women & men thru the ages is depicted . The building is a lovely work of art with murals on ceilings & mosaic floor at entrance. Very interesting that this museum is part of the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus. Classrooms & faculty offices are also part of the building. Very glad we spent about 90 minutes of our Milwaukee time here.
