Skunk Train: Pudding Creek Express from Fort Bragg

Overview
This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

I booked a steam ride a month ahead. A day after I booked, I requested a change of 1 day, and changed to the other train ride (due to a change in arriving date) . We were 2 people. There is a 30 dollars difference per ride, so I was supposed to be refunded 60 dollars. They refused to refund the 60 dollars. They made me spend it on merchandise I don't need from the store. Now I have a sweatshirt and hat with a Skunk... I did not buy a last minute ticket. I didn't cancel, only changed. A day after I first booked. And a month ahead!! And there is no reason in the world not to refund my credit card which I paid with. I tried talking to the service people at the store, and received a passive aggressive smile, that they are sorry, but can not refund me. I think this is very bad service. I paid good money and did not expect this to be the way they treat their clients. Be carefull.

We had a wonderful trip. It was our first time visiting Fort Bragg. The Redwoods are breathtaking and the train ride is a fun way to experience all this beauty. We paid the small extra fee for the VIP package and it was totally worth it! It included a delicious lunch, souvenirs, early boarding and an additional private tour of the train. Johnny, the conductor, and Rick, the engineer were awesome!

Really unique experience, the guides are friendly, I just wish it had been longer. The ride itself is 20 min max each way and most of the time is spent at a venue in the forest that must be designed for weddings? If you want to get really into the redwood forest maybe take the longer ride. It was NOT physically taxing.
