Skunk Train: Pudding Creek Express from Fort Bragg

Overview
This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

Having ridden the Skunk Train 3 Times in the last 50 yrs and loved it each time, I was very disappointed that the ride from Fort Bragg was cut so short due to the tunnel being closed. I understand these things happen but I should have been forewarned or given a discount on the trip before I spent the regular ticket price for five people for an hour fifteen minute trip to have 25 min of that spent in a single redwood grove waiting for the train to return the 20 min trip back to Fort Bragg.

This was a total waste of money - skip it and head for the Mendocino Botanical Gardens instead. The train ride was 90 minutes but for 20 minutes there's a stop midway where you can take a fast 15 minutes walk on a rather boring trail or hang around on the deck along the train. All the information the loudspeaker tells you - about the history of the Skunk train or the redwood trees - can be gotten in their brochures or on anywebsite about the area. The ride is expensive and not worth it.

Loved being able to stand in the flat car as train moved through. Snacks and drinks available at reasonable prices.
