Alaska Sled Dogs & Musher's Camp
Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

Or guide up, Thomas was thoughtful , knowledgeable and entertaining. The sled dog were amazing!ntheybwere all so friendly and loved pets. Our musher Miriam was fabulous! She stopped during our ride and let one do the dogs come back.;I believe her name was Glacier.; such sweet loving animal. And of course the best part the puppies! We got to hold them. So adorable. My husband was in heaven. He would have taken the little guy under his jacket but they counted them before we left. Amazing fun day

We enjoyed the excursion but felt hurried with the actual time we had with the dogs. The dog trainers were very good and informative. The ride they took us on was quite short and would have enjoyed it much more it was a bit longer. The base camp instructor was a young man with minimal knowledge. He tried to be entertaining with his humor, but did not go over too well. Again, the time we had with the pups was short and hurried. If they could have slowed things down a little and made more emphasis with us their guests, I would give it a more positive review. Hopefully they will read this and make some changes.

The tour was well organized and our guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The ride to the dog run training track in the unimog was fun. But to have 16 dos pulling us around the track was fantastic. It's cool to see how excited they get to work and run. Also beautiful scenery on the way to and from the center of town for pickup and drop off.
