Alaska Sled Dogs & Musher's Camp
Your journey begins with an entertaining historic tour from your knowledgeable guide through downtown Skagway and along nine miles of stunning coastline to our Musher’s Camp™ in Dyea. Next, hop into our specialized unimog for an exciting ride up our rugged mountain road, surrounded by glacially fed streams and waterfalls. At the top, your musher will greet you with a custom-designed wheeled summertime sled and a team of very excited Alaskan Huskies! Feel the power of these strong dogs as they whisk you down a mile-long, zig-zagging trail deep in the Tongass National Rainforest! After meeting your dog team, climb back into your unimog and enjoy the adventurous ride to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea tidal flats. Depending on the month you just might see eagles, bears, seals, horseback riders, wild flowers, and of course snow-capped mountains. Your unimog will then bring you to what we like to call a “Kennel Talk.” We have been sharing our passion for dog sledding for years, and in that time we have gathered up the most frequently ask questions about the sport. In the Kennel Talk, we will share the fascinating answers and welcome any additional questions you may have. Of course, we make sure you have plenty of time to play with our puppies! Your affections actually socialize these future athletes, which is essential to their racing success. A crackling fire and a unique gift shop round out your visit. All of this in a spectacular Alaskan setting!

We went on the Sled Dog and Musher's Camp excursion. Chad, our guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ride in the unimog up the hill to camp was fun, and our kids (ages 9 and 11) loved riding behind the dogs, petting the sled dogs, learning about mushing, and of course, petting the puppies. Also beautiful scenery - saw salmon spawning and eagles at the lookout point. We would recommend.

This was a fun excursion in Skagway. From pick up to drop off everything was very well organized and informative. Spending time with our dog sled team as well as the puppies was most enjoyable. The puppies are so adorable!! The mushers provided a lot of information about how they care for and train the dogs, all most interesting and their passion for the sport of dog sledding and the animals themselves most evident.

Our driver picked us up in Skagway and drove us to the mushers' camp. He gave us lots of information on the way there and pointed out the natural wonders. Once there we were treated to a ride on the sled with the dogs pulling. The musher explained how she trained the dogs and what signals she gave. We then attended a presentation on races, and finally got to cuddle puppies. The driver even got us back to the ship in the nick of time.
